[Opinions] Laura
I've been liking the name Laura lately. Do you think it is too common or dated?

I like it a lot and don’t see it as dated.

It's okay. It's too old and dated for me though.

Where I live, it's never been common so it can't be dated. Which is good! Lorraine, for instance, is dated: it was quite well used in the 1940s/50s.I love Laura much more than most names. I could never use it, because it would be trite if used along with Beatrice (Italian Literature 101!), which was my mother's name and which I gladly used. But, given a different mother ...

Pretty but boring. Probably bordering on dated these days, but I don’t really see it as such.

I think it is better than Lauren, no I do not think it is dated but it isn't really my cup of tea.

It's one of my all-time favorites! It's not dated as Laurie and Lori are. Laura has a lot going for it - could be any age, easy to spell, not confused with other names, not overused. Its rank is 357 in 2020. The only problem is the pronunciation - "Lore ah" or "Lar ah" Laurel is a sweet name too.

I think it's a pretty timeless classic. It's a bit worn out because of how popular it was in the 80s, but it's a lovely name. I especially love it as a middle name. It's funny how I feel like Laura is such an 80s name, even though it peaked in the late 60s! Did all the Lauras go by Laurie then or something?
