[Opinions] Blake?
What do you think of the name Blake?I didn’t realize it was so disliked until now. I always thought it was quite handsome. Especially as a middle name. (I know a Connor Blake and Octavian Blake) I find it exclusively masculine if not good as a middle name for a girl."People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing all day."'*•.¸♡ Have a great day/night! ♡¸.•*' Rate my personal name list please :) https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/217493

I love it because it's my son's name. Blake Robert.

I hate it as a gal name, but I think it's alright on a guy. Just not my style.

I hate it, it's Preppy, and flat.

I liked it enough as a preteen to name a character in a story I was writing Blake. He had a friend named January "Janie". I still like a lot of names I liked then, but Blake isn't one. My character Blake was supposed to be a nice kid: thoughtful, an old soul type.As masculine, it sounds between Jake and Chip to me. Jake was the cool guy name in my school in the early 00s. Jake seems kind of like Brad to me but younger. I think Chip is insubstantial and preppy. I guess it also sounds like Brock but with less machismo. Of names I don't dislike, Blake's about like Finn. Or Quinn.

It feels very bland and filler-y. I agree with another poster-- it is kind of reminiscent of romance novels and soap opera TV. It also sounds like a friend a Barbie doll would have, or a surname for a generic protagonist in a forgettable story. It just doesn't stand out to me.

Filler-y? Huh. I wonder why you feel that way. Now that you mention it, it does like a name a Barbie doll character would have.

It's very soap opera/trashy romance novel-esque, so maybe that's why it's not universally admired. I don't mind it, it's nothing special or awful to me, but I've never met a real one. Maybe if I did the charm would wear off real fast.

I made a post with Blake a while back and it also received hate. I also find this a really handsome name, and I'd use it in a heartbeat. As a middle name or first name. James Blake, Ashton Blake, Jonathan Blake, Christopher Blake, Zachary Blake, and Blake Christopher are my favorite combinations. I personally don't get all the hate. I think it's a wonderful name. No bad associations (for me), not too trendy or popular, not overly masculine but not overly feminine. Oh well, it's a name us few can enjoy together, I guess.

I don't hate it. But it's not a favorite. It does make a nice middle name.
