[Opinions] Lake
Thoughts on Lake? Boy or girl?
I think I like it for a girl.
aussiechic suggested it as a newer, more updated version of Brooke and I really like it and added it (thanks!).
With River becoming popular, Brooke having been common and Rain gaining a bit of popularity I think it could work?
It's very calm and serene.
Thoughts?

I should love this idea. I love lake life and lake culture. I grew up "going to the lake" which is a common activity in middle class Canadian/Manitoban culture - escaping to "the lake" (everyone uses this terminology, and everyone knows what a person means when they say it, and every family has a different "lake" they are referring to). "The Lake" means relaxation, beauty, a place to rest and have fun and enjoy life and nature. It's a magical place, a state of mind, a way of life, etc etc.
But I hate the idea of Lake as a name. SO MUCH.
I don't find it calm and serene at all. It's the total opposite. As a name, all the good qualities of the word "lake" just evaporate and it becomes extremely grating. Maybe because for me, it's trying to distill a concept into the most abruptly obvious word choice available. It's too reductive.
Also, I don't think it would sound right with any last name. It just turns people into lakes.

I guess it’s okay, but I like it better on a boy.
I like it, same vibe as Layne/Lane to me which work well. I think i'd use it for a boy.
