[Opinions] Re: Emily
Emily is like William: in terms of boring names, it's a real nice one. I love the warmth of Emily. It's simple and sweet without being flimsy, it's fascinatingly ageless. I like the nickname "Em" for it. As in "Aunt Em" :) I grew up in a sea of Emilys without really knowing one well. I have a distant cousin Emily, and a few of my childhood friends had little sisters named Emily, I babysat an Emily sometimes, but I never had any Emily friends myself, so Emily is extremely familiar but lacks any real associations for me. I would never use this on a person because it is both so common as well as lacking any emotional anchor of association for me (although as a middle name it's lovely), but I love the idea of a pet named Emily. An affectionate cat named Emily seems so right.
