[Opinions] Endeavour
The Inspector Morse books as they are known were written by Colin Dexter. The character is always known by his last name. His first name is Endeavour after a navy research ship. WDYT of Endeavour?

I actually really like Endeavor as a virtue name. I was introduced to it by a different source, a character in My Hero Academia. It gives me a similar vibe to Credence, another virtue name I like.

I like this for a male virtue name, though as an American of course I find the u unnecessary. Possibly it could be a *little* much on a real person, but... well, it's no more over the top than Felicity or Serenity, is it? If we as a society can accept those, why not this?

You know what... I think I like it? I think I prefer it for a girl though.

Yeah, I don’t like this one.

Thank you for this: I haven't read an Inspector Morse book for years, and after I'd finished them all, I read somewhere that if the readers were as good at crosswords as Morse (and of course Dexter), they could have worked out his fn for themselves.Wasn't it Shackleton's ship? As a human name, it sounds very Puritan, but in quite a good way. OK for a mn, certainly.

He was named after Lieutenant James Cook’s ship Bark Endeavour.

I really like both the name and the character. Endeavour/ Endeavor is among my favorite virtue names. Even though I like Inspector Morse, I slightly prefer the Endeavor spelling since it seems a little less vowel heavy. The extra 'u' feels as if they wanted to cram one more vowel into an already packed name. I know that it is the prefered British spelling, but it still looks a tad superfluous like one bow too many on an already frilly dress. Oddly, I visually like Honour slightly more than Honor.

It sort of works for me. The word itself doesn't look very namey, but if you say it out loud: "enn-DEV-er". Yeah, ok. It's like a more Puritan Denver. It's interesting. It does sound like the name of a spaceship, but that's pretty neat.
