Help[Opinions] Isidore
So I really enjoy this name, and while I don't normally put much stock into name meanings outside of Christianity / Hebrew (which I reject outright), a name that means "Gift of Isis" might seem a little odd... today.
I'm okay with names being in reference to deities of Egyptian mythology among others (Norse, Greek etc), but, if I were to use the name - purely hypothetical, how would one suppose I can word the meaning for it to not sound a little loaded?

It's a family name on my maternal grandmother's side. I like it and it's a strong contender as a middle name if my second baby is a boy, although spelled Isidor.

Isis itself, I think is a big no now, but 'gift of Isis' is evidently connected to the deity and mythology. Plus it's in the meaning and not obviously in Isidore or Isadora.
I really love Isidore, and would 100% use it, if Pandora wasn't my #1 girls name. I don't think the 'is a door' sound is a big deal. To me it comes across as quiet and academic, soft and vintage, but somewhat familiar due to Theodore.

I think it's a great name. What if you thought about it in terms of "a gift from a goddess" instead of Isis specifically? Would that make it less weird for you? Or you could go literal and say "gift of the throne" since Isis' name might possibly mean "seat, throne".
I always get excited when I see a name, especially an unexpected one, that references a deity, but that's because I'm a religion nerd as much as a name nerd I guess.

Actually, that is so simple, I love it! Thank you. I was there ready to write a 10-page essay for my non-existent child and completely unable to think of something easier lmao

I was thinking about a making a post like this today. Ironically enough.
I have some unofficial plans to name my daughter Isadora. Isidora is okay, but feels a little too close to my name. I like it because it means “gift of Isis”. Decent Mother-Daughter connection.
Ironically enough, I would happily use Isadora or Isidora, but I have no plans on using Isidore. Not even Isadore. I do prefer Isidore to Isadore though. Isidore is okay. But it feels a little feminine and reminds me of “Is a door”. Kind of like with Amador “I’m a door”. But the meaning is lovely. To me, at least.
As far as the meaning itself, putting aside bias: I really don’t think it’s problem. Nobody would make a name that it implies “gift of terrorist group”. There’s little to no reason for somebody to do that. And I highly doubt one day somebody would just walk up to him and go “your name means gift of ISIS? YOURE TERRORIST” if you actually think about it it’s kinda goofy really. If anything he would get more teased for “I a door” jokes and Isadora “sad” jokes. The goddess Isis goes thousands of years back. I actually know a few people with the name Isadora and Isidora and the meaning does not bother them. To me it’s kinda tier 4 name meanings. Names that aren’t appreciated by certain people, but aren’t the worst somebody can have. Mostly just controversial.
If my name were such? I don’t think I’d loose sleep over it.

Isadora / Isidora are very pretty and a nice change from Isabelle / Isabel. The meaning behind why you'd like to use it is excellent - I hope you do end up using it xD
It's goofy and I do agree with you on that one, I'm just worried about the lack of education the majority of the public has and you know how many kids like to look up the meaning of their name? I'd like to be able to word it in a way that makes it clear that it has no connection to Isis (the terrorist group).
I never thought of "is a door" but eh, names can be so easily teased even without any teasing material to go with (like how a temp teacher in primary school started a bullying campaign of my surname - it still does not make any sense, but the kids latched onto it. I'd mention what it was, but my surname is unique and I'd doxx myself). My friend Stephanie was bullied because of the "fanny" sound in her (otherwise very normal) name so... I'm not so worried of it to be honest. Hopefully my kid will like the Harry Potter books as much as I do and Dumbledore's name soothes that
