[Opinions] Linden & Tacy (m)
Two names I've recently come across.
Linden "Lin" (M)
One of my favourite tree names. Do you think it will still work as a masculine name? What is your favourite masculine tree related name?
--
Tacy (F)
In my opinion it sounds very modern and made-up (although I like the sound), but according to BtN Tacy was in use from the 16th century. It's also a nickname for Anastacia.
Tacy Adelia (fn+mn) was a Christian missionary witness to the Armenian genocide.
What do you think of the name Tacy (Adelia)?

Linden is adorable for a boy or a girl. It would be right up there on my list of boys' names (alongside Rowan, my favourite for a boy), but my medieval reenactment household is called Linden Manor so using Linden for a child would seem a bit too much.
Tacy as a nickname is cute, but I dislike it as a full name because of the meaning.

Linden is ok, I don't like Tacy
I think Linden is still okay as a boy name, but has definitely moved toward unisex or feminine. My favorite boy tree name is simply Ash.
Tacy looks like a misspelling of Tracy, Lacy or tacky. It reminds me of how little kids say my name before they can do the st blend for Stacey. I think it could be okay as a nickname for Anastacia, but otherwise I hate it.

I know a little girl named Linden, only she spells it Lynden and goes by Lyndie. She’s 4 or 5. It feels very unisex to me, so I could see it on boys as well. My favorite tree name for a boy is Rowan. I also like Ash.
Tacy reminds me of Macy and Tracy, so I think it works as a given name. It’s not really my style, but it’s not bad. Tacy Adelia is cute but maybe a little insubstantial. I initially read it as Tacy Adelaide, which I think sounds more solid.

I really like Linden. It reads more feminine to me but I would enjoy it on a boy as well. Rowan is my favorite tree name, all boy to me. Oak would make a fun middle name (Solomon Oak is a fave combo).
Tacy reminds me of the book series Betsy Tacy, so it has a little bit of lispy good-girl early 20th century Americana vibe.

Linden could work for all genders I think. I'm not sure what my favourite tree name for boys is.... maybe Rowan? You never see Rowan on boys. Alder is handsome too. And I love Hawthorn. Mega handsome.
Tacy is interesting. It seems a bit wispy, just a scrap of a thing. I agree it sounds modern and made-up, ut it's neat that it's not. I'd like it as a nn for Tacita I think.

Linden seems masculine to me. I love Rowan. Tacy sounds silly and geographical. I can imagine a small town called Tacy in the American South, where everyone sounds like Dolly Parton. Adelia is very pretty and flowery.
I love your description of Tacy - it makes perfectly sense!
I do love Linden. Linden is my favorite tree name, but I also like Ash time to time.
I think in today's world Tacy will just look like a typo of Tracy.

I like Ash too
I thought Tacy might be confused for Stacy. I didn't think of Tracy.

Personally, I prefer Linden for a girl, or unisex which I do lean towards more than the former though, so it can definitely work for a boy.
Tacy is interesting, but it does remind me of a taser, the stun thing, so not really for me.

I didn't think of a connection with a taser.
It's really because they both starts with 'tas-', that I feel like that. I just can't unsee, and separate the two, it in my head. *shrugs*
I get it, I have it with the name Charlotte / harlot. I can't unhear it

I know you don't like my name from several posts, and I am completely ok with that, as everyone has their own opinions about it, and those opinions does not make me feel hurt, sad, annoyed, etc about it. I love my own name, and that's all I need to know.
Let's agree to disagree on Tacy and be done with this discussion, that none of us will clearly win, it in a way, since I'll keep having my opinion about Tacy, which will never change. So, ok?
