It's not too common for me. I don't know any Jacks, nor have I ever. For that reason I like it, it's snappy and scrappy but it has a warmth to it. I also like Jackie on a boy.

I'm amazed you don't know any. In the UK it was he number one name for boys from 1996 to 2008! I would have thought it would have shared similar popularity levels elsewhere.

I'm surprised too! I've known many Johns and Jons, but none went by Jack.
I wonder if it's because "jack" is a slang word in North America? "Jack sh**" meaning "nothing" is a pretty common phrase... Maybe people don't use the name because of that association.
