I really don't like Chantal. It's very 80s 'I want to be fancy'. Chantal is a valley girl and her best friend is named Heather, and they only wear pastels and spend all their time at the mall. Their boyfriends play tennis, their dads sell furniture, and their moms live at the country club bar.

Esme Chantal is really lovely. The names are totally on the same wavelength. I grew up in a Chantal generation so generally I don't appreciate this name, but as a middle name it's unexpected and refreshing.
Etta Chantal is quite fun, I love the energy it has.
Auburn Chantal is haunting for some reason. I don't know if I like it, but I can't look away. Auburn as a name....hm.
