I once read a book where a character was named Ford and since I really really like it. Quite similar to Jack (masculine, cool, classic on it's one right, one syllable long).

I would think his parents liked cars.

Honestly I used to strongly dislike the name but after watching the second season of Critical Role where one of the characters was named Ford, it grew on me. I don't think it'd ever become a name I'd think of using it but I don't hate it anymore.

His parents were huge Douglas Adams fans and didn't like the name Arthur. If his mn was Prefect, that would prove my theory.

I might think his parents were like..... rockabilly, classic-car types. It's an old fashioned name (I think of President Ford first, oddly) then the car, so the name has a very serious, vintage feeling to it.

I like it. I don't think it is that surnamey. Plus, it has that nerdy-but-adorable vibe like Milton or Kenneth.
