don't really like it, it feels a bit incomplete? there are so many better one syllable names out there. if i had to choose id go with Lane though. the y there is unnecessary

I prefer Lane for a boy and Elaine or Laine for a girl.

Lane is one of my favourite one-syllable names. It's definitely unisex. Adding the Y totally ruins it for me - it makes it completely feminine and too much like Jayne

I think it’s nice. Especially on a girl. I always liked it as a middle name.

I used to like it for a boy, I only recently discarded it from my PNL and it’s still on my mind from time to time. It’s just a tad too insubstantial for me.I don’t think it’s trendy. I think it’s kind of vintage-chic (especially on a girl). Reminds me of Old Hollywood for some reason.I prefer Lainey for a girl.

Laine is my niece's name; the spelling is because my SIL's best friend since school is Elaine, nn Laine. So that's what it immediately reminds me of; Lane however is all Lois, and Layne is too fancied up. I've no idea which if any of them is trendy. As a name, I don't enjoy it much: Elaine is my least favourite version of Helen.
