Thoughts? Will it make a comeback in the States?
At first, I thought this name was a vintage top 100 name in my country, like Carmen or Berta - it also has a similar sound as Iris.
However, I didn't expect that it peaked in the 70's... ranked #484.
Thoughts on the IR-ma/EER-ma (German/Spanish) pronunciation? Or do you prefer UR-ma (the English one)?

I actually quite like it. It's gritty, but not self-conscious. I also like Irma from Picnic at Hanging Rock. I don't think it'll make a comeback anytime soon, though.

I think it's sounds and looks very unattractive.

I prefer the German version; I'm not familiar with Spanish, and URma is really off-putting. Although, I knew a South African girl with a German father whose name was Irmela. Her dad called her IRmuhluh, but to everyone else she was URmuhluh and for some reason this seemed quite OK to me.
Irma has a 1920s vibe to me: Irma dances the Charleston, the fringe on her dress flies, her daringly short hair falls into her eyes and she clutches her long, long, long string of beads so they don't raise bruises on her fellow party-goers. She doesn't know Jay Gatsby, but she'd like to.
