I don’t like it. Augustus is okay if a bit pretentious for a first name. I prefer it as a middle name. Gustav is nice too.

I like the name Gus, but I think it's insubstantial on it's own. I love the name August as full name. I like Augustus too, but I think it may be seen as pretentious. Although personally I think it's in the same league as Alexander (Caesar Augustus & Alexander the Great).

I like Gustav very much; wouldn't use it outside a German context, though. And though Gus looks like a good nn for Gustav, in fact it would sound different - more like Goose - which is not the best! I don't like August at all.

It's gross. I picture a big fat sloppy guy in a wife-beater and three days' worth of stubble, sitting in a broken-down recliner swilling beer and burping and farting at the same time. Or a dog very similar-looking dog.

I love Gus as a nickname for August. I think it's super cute, super adorable, and it's a favorite.

I’m not really a fan, but I’m okay with it as a nickname. I like it best for August.
