I heard it on TV the other day. I'd forgotten how much I like it. It probably helps that it sounds like malachite; I tend to like names I associate with green. I also tend to like 3 syllable names.
Generally, it reminds me of Malcolm (sturdy, approachable) but more religious seeming (less severe than Mordechai but noticeably similar) and has a trendy kye sound which I find pleasant.

I like it. I think I’d use the Irish spelling of Malachy though.

Not a favourite; emphatically biblical for one thing, and not naturalised like, for instance, David and Daniel.
I knew a couple of nuns at uni; one was Sister Malachi with the usual pronunciation of MA-lak-eye; the other, who was Irish with a lovely accent, always called her Sister ma-LAK-ee. Which I found I preferred.

Great name, great meaning, not sure I’ve ever met one though.

It’s a name I’ve always been on the fence with but it’s the name of my new friend’s dad and I have to say I really have not enjoyed its usage in the real world. It’s too gothic and dramatic. There’s also the Children of The Corn Malachi reference, of course.
