Very common where I work. I know erm... a fair few people called Asra, minimum 4 or 5, I also know a few people called Isra. Knowing people called it and using it has made me like it less. I feel like I'm mispronouncing Isra when I say Asra, and vice versa. I feel like I'm lisping when I say it even though I'm not, or saying something like asthma wrong, it just feels weird to say even though it's now a familiar name. It's not an ugly name by any means, but when it's everyday it loses a lot of its sparkle, I find it not bad but very mundane. If it's not common where you are, it's a nice enough name, and the "travel at night" meaning is cool. Azra looks cooler, with a hard 'z' sound sounds better, but the meaning is potentially less cool.
I really like the meaning. I prefer Isra though.
I love it! Would love to know what ours think…
