What do you think of the name Doris?
At first the name seemed a bit outdated to me. However I was recently thinking about this name, and as I thought about it I started to like it.

My paternal grandmother's name was Doris, and DH & I will use it as a middle name if we have a second daughter. (We won't be using it for a first daughter because one of her names will be my maternal grandmother's -- Agnes.) I really like Doris, and the fact that it's basically unheard of these days just makes it that much more appealing to me.

It's sweet -- like Doris Day. :) I grew up with a cousin with this name, and she was nice enough, but she's 15 years older than I am. Her mn is Ann, btw. I prefer Dora, Dorothy and Dorothea, but it's not bad at all. I'd be happy to see a baby named Doris born these days. :)

I've always thought it was a very pretty name. I had a Great Aunt Doris.

I really love Doris. It sounds sunshiney as hell, since I immediately picture the fabulous Doris Day. But then, I just love two-syllable -is names, particularly Doris, Avis, and Maris.

How cute would it be to be introduced to a little Doris? Who wouldn't melt?

"Outdated" tends to sound "classic" or "formerly-fashionable" to me, and I like it.
