[Opinions] What does ‘Bert’ make you think of?
This name always makes me think of a fat plonker from Bri’ain with a belly full of fish & chips and doner kebabs, he makes his wife do the cooking and house-work whilst he’s sitting on the couch in his pyjamas watching itv news, love island, gogglebox and SAS who dares wins, non-stop effing and blinding at the TV.
What does this name make you think of?

Ernie & Bert from Sesame Street
Plastic Bertrand-Ca plane pour moi
Burt Bacharach-great American pianist & composer
Prince Albert of Monaco
Cindy & Bert-German Schlager singers
Bertolt Brecht
Former friend Michael Heribert and he hates his MNPersonally, Bert or Bertie has his own charme, perhaps in a more vintage way.
I would'nt use it, but I don't care for.

My former manager’s husband Gilbert is known as Bert. Bert dislikes Gilbert as he thinks it’s old fashioned. He would pick his wife Josephine (Josie) up every day after work in his van and if he had toffees or something he’d always offer me one.

I didn't even think about Gilbert! Weird, because that's one of my favorite names.

I'm growing to like Gilbert too. Gil is a much better nickname in my opinion.

Your post makes me think how unfortunate it is that you don't even try to develop a positive outlook on life. Bert makes me think about a friend's father, full name Bertram Charles. A charming, brilliant, funny war veteran and, yes, British.

I know how unfortunate I am!!! I’m from Britain, the humour sucks, the weather sucks and the people here are imbeciles (I am one myself)

You're not the only British user, but the other ones don't go out of their way to make inflammatory posts.

Inflammatory posts?I’m just telling the truth. It’s a smelly, dirty hellhole full of dodgy people and alcoholics begging for money on the streets. And many more things that I shouldn’t say.

I literally live in the UK lol. You're thirteen, right? In the least patronising way possible, that's a lonely age, when people search for community, or just a way to distract themselves from their boredom. Trolling is not a productive way to achieve either of these goals. Even if you're not consciously trolling, surely you can see how your posts about basically every imaginable subject being negative and derogatory towards some group of people could be interpreted as such?

So I’m trolling without knowing I am?
The majority of people on this website are adults and bored children. If you didn’t know, kids are very annoying, unfunny, stupid and rude. If you were on a kids video game you’d realise there are much more people like me. I guess you just don’t know what it’s like to be a 12 year old in 2021, forget about your childhood that was probably 100 years ago, today children are cringe TikTok dancers who try to look cool and try to be funny at school by swearing in classrooms and playing on their phones under the desks. I can’t be a totally perfect 12 year old. I go to a rough school and because I’m different nobody likes me. (I’m leaving soon, luckily)
Yes, I have behaviour problems, but who doesn’t nowadays?Edit: also my parents and classmates probably influence the way I think. So don’t blame me when I say upsetting things. Blame my parents or school!!

I mean, someone saying they're honest online is unfortunately not an indication of them being honest.

meant to reply to OPBurt from Glee. Pert, blurt, burp, bears. Bertram, ravens, coat-of-arms. Prince Albert. Bart, Bartholomew, Barnabas, Mert, Robert.I suppose it sounds old/strong/loud/coarse to me, in a general way. There's a couple Bertrams in my family tree who were working class German immigrants, but I never met them.

A middle aged, working class person.

An old man with suspenders that pull his pants all the way up to his chest, and who built a workshop in his shed so he can indulge his hobby of either building model trains or carving wooden birds. He's very genial as long as you don't touch his trains/birds, and likes to give dusty off-brand hard candies to the neighborhood children.

I think your stereotyped description says a lot more about you than about anyone else. The name Bert makes me think of the characters from Sesame Street or Mary Poppins.
vote up5
Spot on!I was an obese unemployed man the whole time, I was pretending to be a 12 year old to trick people. How did you figure that out?

I immediately think of Bert from Bert & Ernie. Bert McCracken, the lead singer of The Used, also comes to mind. I also think of Burt Reynolds and Burton Cummings. The muppet is the strongest association I have.

Sesame Street ...The uptight, pigeon-loving Muppet who just wants to sit and read while his roommate Ernie is busy playing pranks and tricking him into ridiculous skits.

1. Bert & Ernie from Sesame Street2. My late Aunt Bert, whose real name was Bertha (and she hated it). And the name Bertha makes me think of:3. Birthing someone.None are actually negative associations; but all of them pretty much turn me off the idea of Bert as a name.
