[Opinions] Curie
What would you think if you met someone named Curie?
(it's a surname that means "kitchen", pronounced KYUR-ee)

If it were Curry, it would sound better, but too much like "curry favor". The meaning of kitchen doesn't bother me at all. I just don't like the cure part of the name. It doesn't come with any diminutives right off the bat. It would be better as a middle name, or to honor a relative.
If I met a Curie, I'd probably think that he was a guy who was meant to carry a family name down. It sounds kind of intelligent. But yes, radioactive measurement.. Just push it to the middle name slot.

Radioactive?
I'm delighted by your Song of the Week: I met Ingrid Jonker's younger sister, long ago, and a friend met her elder sister. A sad family.

Small world. :)
I heard it because I've been looking for poet tribute albums lately. I think her daughter put it together.

I would think it was after Marie Curie. It's also a unit of radiation. I don't think it makes a good name, and the original meaning isn't that good either. I mean, a boudoir is a bedroom and maybe it isn't a last name but nobody thinks it makes a good fn.
