Laurels are pretty, and the name is kind of unique, but I don't like either syllable in the name. I don't like most names containing the Lau (law) sound. Its weird in my mouth. I do like Laurence though. (Where I live, its also pronounced like Lorence, the same for Laurel, I think. I would prefer those sounds.)
And I guess the best feminine name with Lau in it is..Laurie. Which is unisex. I think its a cute nickname and legal name. It doesn't sound babyish like other diminutives tend do - in my humble opinion.
