This is my newest favorite male name (https://www.behindthename.com/name/amycus/submitted). What do you all think? I find it amiable (duh) but also mysterious -- a gentle brooder definitely comes to mind. Here are some combos:Amycus Andrew

Amycus sounds handsome. I do not get broody vibes. It sounds cheerful and lowkey; he sounds like someone who it would be fun to hangout with while other people are being all dramatic. My favorites from your combos are
Amycus Roland
Amycus George - I am not generally a fan of George, but it flows well here.
Amycus Ivo
Amycus Jerome
Amycus Leon /Leo Other suggestions:
Amycus Gawain
Amycus Bertram - maybe too butlery
Amycus Gerard
Amycus Victor

I don't like it

I don't like the name because it makes me think of that violent death eater teacher Amycus Carrow from Harry Potter, but I do like:Amycus Walter
Amycus Martin
Amycus Luther
Amycus Benett

It's rather interesting, however, immature people might think "Amy cuss" when they look at it. Amycus Nigel is good.

My only association is a minor character in Harry Potter who liked to torture children; he had a sister named Alecto. It's not a strong enough association that I'd care about that if I met an Amycus, though. I don't love it, but I'd prefer it to Atticus. From the combos, I'd most want to meet an Amycus Luther, Amycus Roger, or Amycus Virgil. Amycus Luther seems pretty cool to me, because I like it even though I don't usually like Luther.

I wouldn't call it amicable - didn't the mythological Amycus kill people by stuffing them in a box? Cool sound, though.

I'm not familiar with that. There was an Amycus who challenged people to boxing matches, though...?

That was probably it! I should brush up on my mythology if I'm mixing up boxing with boxes haha

Haha, I had to look Amycus up on Wikipedia to verify what you suggested. Anything goes in mythology!
