What does everyone think of Brooklyn for a baby girl? is it girly enough, and not to celebrity-ish?

I dislike it very much. I also dislike Rose in the middle spot. I don't think it's very feminine, either, no.

I like the name but with the spelling Brooklyn. I think it's very cute although it is growing in popularity. Brooklyn Rose is a nice combination, although Rose is very popular as a MN. This doesn't bother me, as I think it's a very pretty name and one that I like to use in my fave combos.

wow, you definetly put alot of time and thought into your response here. and what the hell is tryndee, kry8tvv? did you think of that on your own? hope your not actually serious. and How is putting two female names together, such as Brooke and Lynn, at all too masculine for a girl. I feel sorry for any little boy who ends up with this name, cuz hes destined to be girly. And rose isnt a filler name if its one of those relatives names you pass on to your child, which is more often then not the case? way to think about what you say before you say it.

Ugh. Sorry but I hate it. Brooklyn is a city, and most place names are tacky and trendy imo. I also don't like Brook(e) or Lyn(n) very much, nor combination names (Brook + Lynn). So, no, I don't care for it. :-/

Brooklynn Rose
is my first cousin's baby's name. I don't think Brooklynn is too celebified (though I admit the Beckhams' baby boy was the first Brooklyn I was aware of), I think it's too citified - as in, Brooklyn, NY, which is a place after which I personally would not name a child, boy or girl.
But on its face, if you look at the components Brook(e) and Lynn, it makes perfect sense to be a girl's name. I have no problem with it for itself, I would only say that it's likely to be assumed to have been inspired by celeb use. Plus Rose, as beautiful and simple and classic as it is, is getting flogged to death as the single most popular girl's mn currently in the English language, near as I can tell.

For the life of me I don't understand the appeal of this name, for either sex. It's a borough of NYC, it's way too trendy, and there are too many names for girls ending in -lynn. Why not name your daughter Brooke Lynn and then use another middle name after Lynn if you like it that much?

The appeal lies in the fact that the name is pretty, and im from new york. I dont like the name Brooke, i just think of babbling brook, but adding the lynn and making it the complete name, it turned it to a name that i DO like. and i wont give my child 3 names, besides her last, its a little much in my opinion, and im sorry but i think that boys with this name are..pardon my french, screwed becauses its girly. And who decided it was "way to trendy"? i dont know a single soul besides the little pop star who has a child named Brooklynn, and its a male.

Personally I don't make judgments about whether a name is too trendy or not. But if by trendy one means "rapidly growing in popularity", Brooklyn certainly qualifies. It simply did not exist as a girls' given name until the 1990s. In 2005, there were 5,248 girls named Brooklyn or Brooklynn born in the USA. Since there were only a bit over 4,100 girls given the name in 2004, that's an increase of over 25% in one year, and that rate of increase qualifies it as a name which is not just "trendy", but is actually "booming" at the moment. The reason you don't know anyone with the name is because almost all of them are still under ten years old, but believe me they are there.

NO, no, no. Do you know how many people are going to name their daughters Brooklyn (or Brooklynn, Brooklynne, Brooke-Lynn, etc.)? It's not girly, it's a place name, it's trendy. 3 strikes, it's out (for me, anyway.). You're welcome to use it if it has great significance to you or if you really love it, but my suggestion would be to avoid Brooklyn as a name. It's going to sound very dated in a decade or so.

I'm not a fan. I don't really like the new trend of thinking every "lyn" name is cute for a girl. Brooklyn to me is a place, and not a particularly lovely one at that. I do have a fondness for the name "Brooke," however.

I really like Brooklyn. It used to be one of my favourite names. Yeah, it's got the -lyn on the end, but it is, after all, a place name, so it's not like the -lyn was tacked on to make it trendy. Brooklyn Rose is very pretty! It's feminine enough in my book, and I'm not sure how anyone could take it to be celebrity-ish.
