Sounds more like a boys name to me. I really like it.

I have a friend named Makay (ma-KAY). Her middle name is Elizabeth. I think of Makai as a girls name because of her, but I'm not really a huge fan of the name.

I like it and as a middle name it could be use on either sex. I like it for both as a first name again I like it on either sex the same. I think it's a really nice name. I wan tot name my daughet Micaiah which is pn (mie-kay-ah) or also pn (mie-ky-ah. t's actully a males name but I like it on a girl. So if I pn the name you like Ma-Ky then I guess it would be nice on a girl(but it would work on a boy too.. if it's pn ma-kay I like it just as a mddle name on either sex.

To me, Makai sounds like a Hebrew boy name. It means "my [something]", unless it's a plural...
