[Opinions] Mahalie
I've been thinking about the name Mahalie lately as a way to honor my sister-in-law, Molly, as well as my Filipino heritage. Mahal means "expensive" or "love" in Filipino/Tagalog. Because of these connections, I would pronounce it like muh-HALL-ee.
What do you think about the name Mahalie? What does it make you think of?

It's not something I'd use but seems nice for the reasons you gave.
These are my associations:
1. Mahalia Jackson
2. Mahal "the Maker" in Tolkien (basically the god of dwarves)
3. My Holly ('my' sounds like muh in some accents)
4. Mali, the country
Mostly I'd just assume it was a variant of Mahalia, which reminds me of a gospel singer.

I think it's cute and a lovely combo
I think it's actually really cute! It makes me think of the word mahalo, which isn't a bad association at all.
