There was this really annoying kid named Jared in my elementary school, but other than that, I don't have a problem with it.

Jared, simple.

I don't mind it but my BIL, Jarrod, has kind of ruined any variant with his bad behavior toward the family.

I like Jared. It sounds approachable and is familiar without being overly used. The one draw back is the Subway guy, but, since he is fading from public consciousness, he isn't too big of an issue.

Jared brings up very pleasant childhood memories for me. I also like Jarrod.
'Jarred' is the past tense of the verb 'jar'. I don't like it at all.

Only Jared is any good. The others I am prone to see "JAR" in, and so they remind me of 'jarhead' a little bit. I kinda prefer the look of the spelling Jered, however I don't love it either, and I don't think it's a great idea to creatively spell this particular name.
I feel like this name was pretty popular recently and isn't anymore. Except, it really wasn't all that popular.
I get a similar vibe to Brandon, Aaron, Jacob, Josh, and Mason: "Basic bro" name.
I think it's fine, though. Not a bad name at all.

Perhaps you would consider Jasper or Jonah?

Jared; all the other versions look like mistakes.I quite like Jared: one of the more interesting biblical names.
