[Opinions] Vera-Ellen & Name Dreams
There was an American dancer and actress of the mid-20th century named Vera-Ellen. She was named this supposedly because her mother had a dream about this name when she was pregnant with her and saw it as a sign that it should be her name. To me, the problem with the name is it doesn't flow at all and it's such a harsh conjunction shift from the end of the a into the e in Ellen. Even just switching it around to Ellen-Vera would have worked better imo. What's your opinion on the name Vera-Ellen? And would you (or had you) likewise name a child a name that came to you in a dream? I doubt I would because all of my dream names seem to either be boring or bizarre, such as Patrick, Heather Blanna, & Twinkle. Please rate my "Names I would Use" list & "Backup Favorites" list. Feel free to rate some of my other lists too if you have the time.

I would absolutely name a child after a dream. I love stories like that and the bizarre ones are the most fun.Vera-Ellen doesn't have the best flow, I agree, but the dream stuff makes me like it a lot.

I've had a few name-dreams in the past, the most recent of which being that I had a niece named Finch. (I'm reasonably certain that my sister wouldn't use that name, since I remember her once saying that the only names she's ever really considered for a child were Felix and Claudia.) Although, I have had some dreams involving normal names, such as a sibset of Ezra and Elise (too matchy for my taste but nice names on their own), Veronica-Joy (how I discovered that I absolutely LOVE this combo), Milton (yeah... No), Selena (actually kind of like it), and Frederick (what a random name to dream about).

Clearly her subconscious mind liked the name! I dislike both Ellen and Vera as independent names, and hyphenating them together doesn't help. But, I suspect she would end up being called by just one of the combo.I've never had a name dream that I can remember. I very seldom do remember dreams.

Vera-Ellen isn't bad, but I'm not a fan of hyphen names. Funny, I had a name dream last night. I dreamt that I adopted a son and daughter named Zephyr and Riley. I'm satisfied. Other than that, I've had the names Angelica, Fiona, Alexis, Lyra, Bryan, Elias, Evanora, Lenora, Aldith, Adrian, Janella, and Heather in dreams. Idk why, lmao. Some of those names I do like. There was also this time where I dreamt that I named a baby Tiger-Lyra, thinking it was nice.
