My husband's granny's maiden name is Tinsley. After getting married, she started using it as her middle name. I also work with a lady who has a niece named Tinsley (abt 25 years gold). I think it's better as a last name.

I've only met a Tinley, who I used to play soccer with. She'd be about 18 now. I've never seen Tinsley. Personally, I'm not a fan. It would fit in with Kinley and Kinsley (which aren't the absolute worst).

I really dislike it.

I have heard of it being used as a name, I think on 16 & Pregnant. It definitely seems too trendy, made-up and kre8tive. All I can picture is Christmas tinsel.

It's getting some use as a girls' name, but not much yet. Probably will get more use in the next few years, it fits right in with Kinsley and Brynlee and Oakley.
I think it's really vapid and unattractive.

Utterly unsubstantial, and also ugly. makes me cringe

Not remotely a fan and it goes right along with the -'sley' suffixed names I personally despise, all of them sounding whiny and insubstantial and 'tinsley' is no exception.
Unfortunately it is used, at least here in the States, where it ranks #715. Why not just name your daughter, 'Tinsel' and be done with it?

I could see someone using it, but that doesn't necessarily mean I like it.

It is, it's a modern first name, though it's one of the ones that makes me rub my forehead in exasperation more than pique my interest..I'm fairly certain one of the twin child actors that play Mike's younger sister on Stranger Things is called Tinsley, or Tinsleigh or some similar nonsense.
