Maybe it looks better using the Cyrillic or Russian alphabet. Agatha makes me think of a hag witch in a fable, so that connotation carries over somewhat. Agafya does sound a little more spry and naturish.

Awkward if you aren’t in a Russian speaking context. It kind of sounds to me like Agatha with a lisp.

There's a cosmetics brand called Babushka Agafia and the woman who's been living isolated in the Siberian woods for decades is also named Agafia, so I can't help but immediately imagine a rustic banya when seeing this name. And it makes me think of a granny aged person. If I ever meet a young city-dwelling Agafya this will likely change but for now this is what I picture.I also think Agafya looks a bit awkward, but I think Agafia looks better and it seems to also be a popular transcription choice. For a nn I think Aggie would work just fine and sound approachable. And if we're really leaning into the Russianness of this name, I think Aga, Gasha or Gasya would be super cute.
