Nameberry claims English is occasionally used as a given name so I decided I like it. There is also apparently an Olympian named English Gardner.
And for what it's worth: English is not just a nationality as much as a conjunction of many Anglo Saxon references, including the language we are speaking. It's also a surname occasionally turned first as another product of the trend.

Nameberry is a baby name site, not an etymology site, and is not a credible source, and not all surnames make good given names. English as a given name is as silly as naming your kid Japanese or Australian or Danish or Scottish or Russian (some of which are also surnames, but that doesn’t mean they make good given names)
Good thing I didn't ask your opinion on it then ;) it is a name, as evidenced by at least one notable person having it, and I like it lol.

Ellington is another good one. Very posh. Elvy always makes me think of Tinkerbell.
Endellion I like because it gives me a very specific image of a 90s anime scene on a dandelion field at sunset. Maybe because it sounds like end of the Dandelions? And the anime part because it sounds like Evangelion? Yeah that's probably it. hahaha.
