[Opinions] Geo
I saw the name Geo in a newspaper article today: it was used as a baby boy's name and is pronounced as GEH-aw (hard G) where I live.Thoughts?~*~*~*~kuin metsäorvokki laaksossa

Looks like a slangy abbreviation for geography (“I have a geo test tomorrow.”)

This. I know for a fact I said something like that once upon a time.

I'm familiar with Geo as an abbreviation for George, and therefore I'd pronounce it JEE-oh. But I wouldn't; because it wan't used as a nickname. Just a way of fitting more words, but fewer letters, into the printed address on George Smith's business letters. Like Jas for James.I prefer GEH-o to JEE-o. It sounds pleasantly German - or Finnish I suppose!

I'm unfamiliar with it with that pronunciation. Just sounds like something is stuck in my throat or something. I do like Geo gee-oh. I actually have a very guilty pleasure called Geodessa with the nn Geo. I might have gotten it from this site, maybe even one of the posters here.

I heavily associate it with geography, or maybe as a diminutive of Giovanni. The name itself is not my taste.
