Ooh, tough!!! I like the way Liv sounds better, but I like the associations with Lib a little better. You see, Liv reminds me of Olivia, but Lib reminds me of Elizabeth, and I like the name Elizabeth way better than the name Olivia. Then again, Liv reminds me of Lib a little bit, so maybe Liv is a slight variant of Elizabeth?? If you are talking about sound then I like Liv better, but iff associations, then Lib is better imo.

I like Liv better I think Liberty is bette then Lib. Lib does sound like a nickname for Liberty maybe Liv a nickname for Livianna. But Lib does not sound very good when Liv does

Lib doesn’t feel like a name. All I think of is Liberals, or something. If I wanted Lib or Libby as a nickname I would just use Elizabeth or Liberty.

Liv on the other hand is beautiful, on its own or a nickname.

Lib does not feel complete on its own. Liv does. And as a nickname I'd prefer Libby anyway (though it still doesn't feel like enough on its own)

I love the name Liv so much it is my 8th favorite name for girls. It sound beautiful and I just love it. Lib? No! Libby, or Liberty… maybe.

Lib sounds incomplete and the ending -b doesn't look interesting to me. Liv is interesting to pronounce as is it similar to live.

Lib, as in ad-lib? Not encouraging. Libby is familiar as a nn for Elizabeth, and I find it preferable.
Liv used to be fine as a nn for Olivia, Olive etc, but now there's that golf tournament in Saudi Arabia called Liv 'because' they only play 54 holes! It's nice to know that Roman numerals still have their uses, but the politics behind the golf ... not very nice at all.

Liv, because it sounds more like a name. Well, it IS a name.

I've never heard of anyone being named "Lib." (I'm in the US) When I hear "lib" I think of "women's lib" (liberation), which became a somewhat dismissive term before it was obsolete, and of "lib" used to mean "(person of) liberal (political leanings)" which is also generally a dismissive or even pejorative usage. So as a name it would seem pretty weird/bad to me.

Libby, though, is a familiar nickname for Elizabeth or Liberty, and seems very usable to me - at least as good as Liv. I also like Libby more than I like Livvy, and the slight sound-association between Libby and "lib(eral") does not seem negative to me the way it does with just "Lib." I think Elizabeth would be nicknamed Liz rather than Lib.
