[Opinions] Lake
I’m in BC Canada and yesterday I met a boy kid named Lake! Tons of lakes here and I think it’s stupid as a name. Wdyt?

I've heard of a few girls named Laken. Lake could work as a middle name but as a first name it comes across as a place name.

My first encounter with the name Lake occurred during an intense Little House phase ca. second/third grade. Laura Ingalls Wilder's mother's first name/middle name was Caroline Lake. Back then I remember liking the sound of it but thinking it was kind of dumb as a name.I still kind of feel that way - I don't hate the sound of the phrase, but as a name? Yikes.I think topographical words are rather dumb. River? Yikes. Lake? Not a fan. Better than Pond, I guess, or Hill, or Mountain. But still, not a fan.

I imagine it'd be kind of awkward to be called Lake [Surname]. I don't care for it.
But it's kind of just normal trendyname. It's not awful. I'm almost used to it already, and would hardly bat an eye.
I don't think it's "stupider" than, say, Grey.
Or Chase or Parker, or Mason or Sawyer, or Nova for that matter.
I guess by stupid, maybe you mean flakey-hippie, like Ocean? Yeah, but I think it's a bit less so, since it just sounds namier to me. Lake sounds like Jake and Blake and isn't all that rare as a surname.

I dislike geographical and especially topographical names in general. Lake is, I suppose, a bit better than Swamp, but I hope he's got a mainstream mn. One day, he might decide that he needs it.

I really like Lake on a girl, on a boy, I prefer River. Even though it’s unisex. I find Lake to be pretty, cool, and refreshing. I know Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen have a daughter named Vivian Lake. I think that’s a lovely combo. So I think if it fits and you put it with the right name, it’s fine. I’m not crazy about Lake on a girl or boy, but it’s a nice name.Lake Diana is the best I can come up with. Daniel Lake, or Gabriel Lake is okay. It’s just... awkward.

Nope. I much prefer Lynn. I think Lake won't pair well with any surname, as there are lakes named after someone's surname. There are Lake Smith, Lake Jackson, Lake Dixon, Lake O'Hara, you name it.

Yes it’s weird. WHY NOT BLAKE?
