In the club of sophisticated / chic / "power suit" names (featuring members like Veronica, Sloane, Sheridan, Meredith, and Claudia), Adrienne reigns supreme. I really don't think you can go wrong with it.

I think it's very pretty and sophisticated, so long as it's pronounced Ay-Dree-ENN and not like Adrian the male name.

It gives me a sort of aggressive vibe. Like Ava, but less bombshelly. Or I could say it's assertive and ambitious, to sound nicer ... basically the 'character' I picture is a pretty, loud-voiced gal who wears a pinstriped suit (or a sports team uniform) and she's fun and bright and capable, but very goal oriented and will step on your head to advance herself if she finds it necessary. I prefer Adria as fem form of Adrian - it gives me more of the expansive, peaceful, intelligent feeling I get from Adrian. I mean, most names that start with "AY" seem a little ... what's the word, aggressive - generally in a positive way, like an archer taking aim, full of initiative ... I just feel like Adrienne is less balanced than Adrian (m) and Adria.
I find myself expecting Nicole and Renee as middle names, heh. So I guess it's getting a bit dated, too.
