[Opinions] Hemingway
I had a dream about a woman named Hemingway, whose mother picked the name because she read a Hemingway novel while pregnant and loved it.
If you had to pick a name for someone based on an author you loved, what would you choose? (Doesn't have to be a hypothetical real child. Could be a character or something)
Also, what do you think of Hemingway as a name?

I don't like it especially for a girl

Hemingway as a name: No! I don’t see it as a name at all! Especially, not for a girl.
Because of an author: Gordon (b)

Can't see it as a given name at all, but I've never liked Ernest Hemingway so starting off in the negatives. Problem is many of the authors I like don't have names I much like, Roger, Jane, Anne, William, Bernard, Janet, Marion, and their surnames aren't even a viable option.
While Hemingway isn't one of my favorite writers, his surname is gorgeous and romantic. I kind of love the idea of a woman named Hemingway (nicknamed Hem!).
I know of a writer couple who named their daughter Lorca and another writer couple who named their son Brecht.
The first such name that comes to mind is Rivette, after the filmmaker Jacques Rivette. I think that would be fun on a girl.
I've been reading the works of Jean-Luc Nancy lately, ha.

I can't think of any I really like now.
I remember liking Langston as a name in middle school because of Langston Hughes. I kind of like Bronte, Poe, Tennyson, Ottessa, Iris & Murdoch but not because of the authors. I like Edwidge but wouldn't use it even for a character. Yeats, Essex, and Alta are poets I like who I could see using as inspiration for character names. Or I could imagine Oscar, Marge, Simone, Norman, Alta, Wolfe, Pablo, Tamara, José, Ruth, Lucille, René, Vincent, Firoozeh as a group of characters.
Hemingway reminds me of hemming and hawing. Or just the author who I don't care for.

I'm not a fan of Hemingway, mostly because I dislike Ernest Hemingway. I will admit I am one of the few who likes the book The Old Man and the Sea. Plus it's incredibly prententious.
I would use Ursula after Ursula Le Guin, and either Amy or Lowell for Amy Lowell. We did consider Julian after Julian of Norwich.

Hemingway is nice, but I don't like it on a girl.
I'd choose Carolivia (Herron) or Maya (Angelou).

I might be persuaded to name a little boy Larry after McMurtry, or I suppose Laura or Lauren, but it would take some seriously good skills to persuade me to use that kind of reasoning to give a name. lol
Hemingway sounds so faux-aristocratic as a fn. Also, I found Ernest's writing to be a huge crashing bore. A story about a guy fighting to land a giant fish who is fighting to not be landed and might take him to the bottom of the ocean should not be as dull as that one was.

One of my favorite names since I was a kid has been Lyra, because of the His Dark Materials series. One of my favorite boy names, Remy, is from the X-Men character, Gambit. A lot of my favorite names are ones I got from books, movies, tv shows, comics, etc and I don't think that's unusual.
Hemingway as a first name is... bold. I actually don't hate it, but it's such a well-known name that you really have to be a fan of the man to use it because literally everyone will assume you are lol

I have a niece named Sophia Lyra, named after the book.
Collins, after Suzanne Collins. Although I’d be far more I linked (very inclined, actually) to name a child after one of the Hunger Games characters (e.g. Primrose or Rue).
