[Opinions] Phineas
I’ve been watching the Greatest Showman, and the lead is called Phineas. He is based on the real Phineas Taylor Barnum, who founded the Bailey and Barnum Circus.
What are your thoughts on the name? I’m a little put off by the meaning “serpents mouth”…

I love this name and the potential meaning is just an amazing bonus. It really is eccentric and old fashioned, which is totally my thing.
It's ok, but not really my style. A bit too excentric and old fashioned. Phineas and Ferb always come to mind. Not to say that the association is negative or anything, just that it's there. I quite enjoyed it when I would watch it many years back, and can understand why it's still revelent now. I adored The Greatest Showman Definetely enjoyed it much more than I thought. (: It's actually the only musical that I actually like.

Well, the meaning is only a possible, but I do love the antiquity of it. Think of all the centuries this name endured, and it's not a bad name either. Beats the he'll out of a lot of modern creations.
I think Phineas is really dashing and whimsical. The meaning is amazing! Maybe you can warm up to it if you consider the symbolism of the snake?
It definitely doesn't sound like a bone to me...

It sounds like some obscure body part, like a little bone in the nose or something.
I don't like the name very much. I can only think of Phineas and Ferb or an old man - I don't think it would work on a baby nowadays. I would like to see more characters (that fit my association) with this name, though.
