[Opinions] Apricity
Thoughts on Apricity, meaning “the warmth of the sun in winter”? Very out there, I know, but so pretty!
I would use Apricity Maeve, Joy Vivienne, and Clement Anthony.

The word is purely synthetic, and obviously so. It does not seem poetic to me and doesn't sound like its meaning. Just artificial and forced. There's no word apric or apricious ... The etymological root is "exposure" and aprication is exposure (to the sun). That's unappealing as well.
I dunno, if I liked -ity names more I would probably be more open to it? but as it is, I don't like it.

It has an amazing meaning and has a similar sound to Felicity, the only catch is it doesn’t flow as well. It would make an interesting middle name! Otherwise the most obvious nickname I can think of is Prissy and that’s not appealing :-/

It should be nice in theory, but it sounds kinda sterile to me. Like a business name. Apricity Corp

It sounds very pretentious in my opinion. It’s a pretentious word, so it makes for a pretentious name.

It may be a real word but it's so little used it seems like not a word, like since you have to explain it everytime you introduce yourself, it's show-offy on the parents' part.
Also, the priss sound is even more pronounced than in Priscilla. And in fact, apricity sounds as if it's a fancy word for prissiness.

I saw apricots in the city; then I googled it and found 'the warmth of the sun in winter', described as used or possibly invented by Henry Cockeram as a dictionary entry in 1623. So far, so good; but I also saw 'Apricity provides those impacted by substance use disorders a full spectrum of care including treatment, employment and support services in a safe, progressive recovery community.' And, unfortunately, it's being used in today's world, unlike Mr Cockeram's version, which isn't. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but wet blankets have their uses.

Thanks, that’s helpful to know. I looked it up though, isn’t that just the name of a clinic that deals with substance abuse?

No doubt. Certainly not something I'd name a child after.

When I first saw, I didn’t like it… but a few seconds later after seeing the meaning, I think it’s adorable! I honestly don’t think I’ve ever flipped so hard on a name before. It does kind of remind me of apricots and prissy, which aren’t really the things I want a name to remind me of (no offense to apricots 😋). But still, I LOVE the meaning and it does have a nice ring to it. I think I’m going to add it to my name list, so thanks for sharing!
