[Opinions] Desmond
Today while at nearby park with a friend, I overheard a little boy's name. His name was Desmond (loud and clear) He couldn't have been any older than 3.
I was pleasantly surprised. Desmond isn't exactly a name I come across often, least of all on a small child. It's rather rare here. So what are your thoughts?
I wouldn't use it, unless maybe as a middle name. (Too close to cousin's name to use it as a first. Their nicknames would be the same; Des) There were other children, all of whom had more "mainstream", perhaps even "boring" names to some people.Olivia
Lana
Jackie (Might have been a teenager, and just a nn)
Emma
Austin
Piper
Hunter
AlexanderFavorites (besides Desmond, which just really stood out) were Olivia and Alexander (despite popularity) and maybe Austin. (Although I don't like the name as much as I used to)*~Rate my PNLs!~* NEW NAMES RECENTLY ADDED!

I dislike it - on paper at least. It sounds sort of whiny and I don't like the fussy sm sound.
I feel like, if it were pronounced with the S silent, I would like it.
But I think if I met a Desmond I wouldn't really pay attention to that. It'd be alright. Neutral, normal, a little nerdy but not bad, kinda like Dwight or Norman. Better than Arthur or William!

I find it lugubrious and unattractive. When I was in primary school, my class had a wrinkly stuffed pug named Desmond. The name suited him exceptionally well. I prefer Raymond as far as mond names go

Desmond is handsome, I like the nickname Des too.🔲 Olivia: It's beautiful, but it's too popular for now.
🔲 Lana: Lana del Rey. The name is beautiful, although I prefer Alana.
🔲 Jackie: Don't like it at all.
🔲 Emma: It's really pretty.
🔲 Austin: Sounds handsome on a boy.
🔲 Piper: It's good.
🔲 Hunter: 🙄🙄🙄
🔲 Alexander: Not my style, but okay.

Desmond is a bit dated, but intriguing and refreshing on a small child. I wouldn't personnally associate it with an elderly person. I also like Olivia, Lana, Emma, Austin and Hunter.
Jackie is ok as a nickname for Jacqueline.
I've never really liked Piper.
And I used to love Alexander, but I don't like it that much any more.

Desmond is a great name! I knew an underclassman named this when I was in high school - might've been a sophomore when I was a senior, friend of a friend - and he's the only Desmond I've ever met in real life. Only other Desmond I know of is the character on Lost (one of my favorites, along with Charlie and Sayid). Desmond has actually made my Top 10 before. I also like Esmond, though that's much less common.I do really like Olivia, but she's just way too popular now. (I also had a close childhood friend named this, her parents were ahead of the curve.) Jackie is also a fun nickname for Jacqueline - even better if it's for Jacquetta!

I kinda like Des as a nickname. Desmond is a bit dated but tasteful.
