[Opinions] Lockie
In today’s newspaper was a baby girl named Lockie after all the covid lockdowns. I could understand it as a nickname for a boy if his name was Lachlan but I find it odd on a girl.WDYT of Lockie?

Uhhh okay. That’s a strange thing to name a child after.

I personally don’t care about girl names on boys, boy names on girls- but who would wanna name a child after lockdowns; an event that most people hated and caused a lot of strife. Even as a nn for Lachlan it makes me think highschool gym lockers.

I think it's horrible. It would be assumed to be masculine because of the similarities in pronunciation with Loki. It'd be ok as a nickname for Lachlan or Lochan

Before I read that far into your post, I assumed it was a nn for Lachlan! So, there's inadvertent gender-bending for a start. And I suppose the fact that it could rhyme with a childish diminutive version of words like sock and clock doesn't help. If I thought that way, which I don't, I'd have put an -a on the end of Covid and named her Vida.Oh dear, I've just thought about the Locky Horror Picture Show. Good earworms for me; not a good life sentence for her.
