Both are good. I like Carla more since it sounds fresher.Carol is fine, but seems a bit dated, though.

Carla. The only Carol I know is a guy, Carroll, so that throws the name off for me.

They're both good and I've liked them each more than the other at different times. Now I feel sort of neutral. Carla sounds flower-childy like Deanna and Terri and Colleen. Carol is more like Carla's mom, and noticeably "white" in my mind (I'm aware of being influenced by the image of Carol Burnett and also I knew a Carole Jo). I like them on the people I picture them on, but I am not sure how I feel about them as baby names. I guess I'm partial to Carol on paper because I like the way it looks, tidy and balanced. It seems strong, and witty, stable and jewel-toned. Carla is prettier, and seems brassier, but not less smart, and earth-toned, more breezy. So I dunno, which one I favor would depend on the character getting named I guess.

I don't like Carol - it's incredibly dated and sounds like Christmas carols. So, Carla. The sound is quite pretty and the only Carla I've ever met was born in 2008.

Carla, it doesn't feel quite as dated as Carol to me. And it has more feminine charm.

Carla, but prefer Caroline or Carolina

I don't like Carl, so its fem version doesn't stand a chance. Carol is seriously dated; I did name my daughter Caroline though.

I guess Carla? If Carolyn was an option I would honestly have chose that I kinda like it. Carol is just not my style.
