[Opinions] Luann
Hey, everybody. Recently, I’ve been thinking about names (that I’d use for actual kids of my own). Luann is an honoring name, combining names from my grandmothers. I also like that it’s uncommon, and that it’s 5 letters long. Growing up with a family name, I’ve often felt “that I don’t have my own name”. With this different combination, with a slight nod to my grandmothers, I like that. Anyways, what do you think about the name Luann? If you say, “country and trailer-trash,” that only adds charm for me, btw.

It's a beautiful name. My great grandmother was Lou Anna. She may have been named honoring her grandfather Lewis. I prefer Luana over Luann

I talked to a Luann today, coincidentally. It seems pretty straightforward...I mean it does sound like a quaint combo name to me. Reminescent of Louise and Lynn and Lula and all the *anne's, Leanne, Lucianne, Marianne, etc...I kinda like that it sounds similar to Lewin, but mostly I'm indifferent to it.

I think Luann is really pretty.

A family member is married to a Louanne, which I think looks more complete than Luann. In her case, it was just a name her parents liked: it wasn't put together in order to honour anyone. For what it's worth, this Louanne is a nurse with a beautiful singing voice, and a very nice person, so those are my associations.

I love Luann. It is tangy and twangy in the best way. It's such a fun name, and makes me think of lemonade. And it's pretty versatile, too - there's always Lu or Annie or Ann, if it's a bit too "country" for the bearer.

When I first saw it, Luann didn’t strike me as trailer-trash at all actually, but I see what you mean. Combing is fun and creative way of honoring your loved ones while your (hypothetical in this case) child still has their “own” name to call just theirs. I would prefer Luana sound wise, but that’s just me because it sounds a little more complete than Luann. But I don’t think it’s bad at all really, just better as a middle name. I think it’s very sweet though! Maybe Daisy Luann or Darcy Luann.

I think it's kind of cute. But I'd change the spelling to either Louane (French, loo-AHNN) or Luanne. Luann looks a bit incomplete.I think many people will say country because I got that when I asked about Luana which is a favorite of mine (I personally think it sounds Hawaiian or like a summer island place but everyone's different). What about Luana?Otherwise I do like Luanne and Louane.
