Nah. Like many UK-place-names-used-as-names (cough) Bristol, London, ... Guess you could use freaking Milton if your surname is Keynes or Leighton if your surname is Buzzard next (Please actually do this if you're reading this and this is actually your surname), I roll my eyes heavily. Not saying they're not used in the UK, but you're gonna come across someone who says 'Wut...like...the place?' The only one that might get a free pass is maybe Chelsea and then I guess a lot of us guess that their dads were Chelsea fans with no taste in girls' names and roll our eyes harder.

Tintagel is heavily place-name-y to me, and I don't live near Cornwall and it's still 'that place in Cornwall' to me. It's a bit well known I guess. And if I came across a Tintagel I'd guess that maybe their parents loved Cornwall in a very effusive, touristy way? Like, a bit much. Especially for a Brit.

Also, the sound just ain't it for me. It doesn't sound good, it's a bit... much... nah.

Scheduled ancient monument on the Cornish coast and that's all, not a personal name at all and an extremely awkward fit if forced, very much a trying way too hard kind of thing. May as well call a person Acropolis.

Do you know how it's pronounced? I've always wondered whether it's TIN-tuh-jell or tin-TAH-jull or something else.

Haha, as soon as I read Tintagel I thought, "That was the weird name of the jazz band manager in the one Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries episode!" And sure enough, you mentioned Tintagel Stone. :-)

It looks so incredibly surname-y to me that it's difficult to imagine as a first name. And really, it was a perfectly pretentious name for that sleazy character...
