Sure. More so than Caligula or Oedipus or Agrippa.
Maybe about as much as Algernon or Ptolemy.Agamemnon's dad's name is popular now. (Atreus)I think a lot of notable classical or mythological figures are hypothetically unpleasant as namesakes; a lot of them had slaves. Hercules and Medea killed their kids (and are possibly more famous than Agamemnon?), yet people have used those names. What I don't like about it is that it has the word "game" in it. Plus it has the same harsh beginning as Agnes (so if that bothers someone, then no, it's not usable). If I heard it as a kid's name, I wouldn't assume the parents idolized the ancient king/character or felt connected to his actions. I'd think they liked the sound and weightiness of it. In a way, it reminds me of Atlas + Megatron, maybe because of the game thing, but also because it sounds like its meaning, heavy or vaguely Metatron-like.

I think what makes Agamemnon less usable than name like Medea is that aside from all the sex slaves and child sacrifice, he's just fundamentally vain and unlikeable and wavering and annoying.

Ok, but regardless of the character, I don't get a wavering vibe from Agamemnon. And a character being unlikable and annoying "aside from all the sex slaves and child sacrifice" does seem vague and subjective enough to me that I'd think people can overlook it, if faced with an Agamemnon (same with a Medea) IRL - I can imagine not seriously minding it as my name, so it passes that test at least.

Nah. He's one of the least likeable characters in Greek myth.

Agamemnon in mythology was awful. There was the whole scenario with him forcefully taking the enslaved girl Briseis from Achilles. He enslaved Cassandra after the fall of Troy. Finally, his wife and her lover kill him.

He was also willing to have his own daughter killed so that his warships could sail.

I forgot about that. He was rotten.

I'm not enough of a fan of the sound to overlook the mythological figure. He's in no way worth a pass imo.

Such a fun name, I love this one. It's useable for a pet for sure! And on a person.... I have to admit I would be very excited to meet an Agamemnon. Not sure how much I'd like to be one myself, but I'd love to be able to tell people about my friend Agamemnon.

I agree. I like it a lot and super fun. Thinking of nicknames.

Not really. He was unpleasant and ill-fated anyway.
