I like the full name, but I don't like the nickname Stan.

Stanislaus!..is where my brain went. I have no idea where I've even seen that. It reminds me of Wenceslaus (Christmas carols, yay), which seems eccentric/archaic. And Stanley. And Stanford. I hate Stan*. Stan is a fuddy duddy, and Stanley is a tool. Maybe that's why GRRM picked Stan* for a character with no sense of humor.Apparently Stanislas has been used regularly in France for a century at least, though. I wonder how it sounds there. It looks slightly dated but not as much as Stan* is in the US. And it probably sounds different in the Czech Republic (Stanislav having been in the top 100 there for 85+ years)...On 2nd thought, I feel like I could group it with Dennis or Stefan (a couple names I feel more positive/neutral about), but I don't. I do prefer Stannis to Stanley or Stanford, so there's that.

All I can think of is Stannis Baratheon from Game of Thrones, so that's a big no. Especially after what he did to his daughter.

My first thought is of the Game of Thrones character. And just like Joffrey it’s a no for me. Stanley is okay and Stanislaus too but not Stannis.

As a nn for Stanislas or Stanislaus, fine. As a name in it's own right, it looks and sounds wrong.
