I know a good handful of little girls named Italy. I honestly see the appeal of the sound, but the fact that it’s such an in-your-face place name definitely throws me off. WDYT? Have you met any Italy’s?

Italia might not be as bad, but it's not great.

I've known kids named America, though.

Well... In Italy (Italia) as well the name Italia is used as given name ... 😂 It was 574° in 1999 and 2,112° in 2021. Hopefully this trend has been decreased in popularity. It's like a Frenchwoman called France or a Spanish girl named España ... So odd! This kind of names should be used only by expats.

I agree with Missy: if you want to use your ancestors' homeland as a given name so Italia is far better than Italy.

Never met an Italy and I don't like it as a person's name.
I prefer Italia instead.

I'm surprised you know so many. Currently, in the US, it's being used at about the same rate as Essence and about half as much as Loyalty, and I've never met anyone named those either.

I don't always mind place names, but I don't like the sound.

Never met one or even heard of one.
I have had friends named Kenya and China though so... whatever, I guess.
It's not my style.
