[Opinions] Phocas
What do you think of the ancient greek name Phocas? I rather like it, but would only use it for a fictional character. I've known of it for a while, but was reminded by a tank top I saw at the thrift store which contained a map of the greek island Kos, with one of the landmarks being named Agios Fokas, meaning Saint Phocas.

Phocas= focus to my brain.
I think it's got a great sound and a very cool vibe, but I also agree it is best for a fictional character.
It's interesting. I'd enjoy seeing a character named it.
Hi!
Phocas in Italian is Foca.
Foca is the Italian word for "seal (animal)". So this is the problem: the name itself is so Ancient, Byzantine and old but the nature-themed meaning so immediate makes it very modern such as Oceano (m), Falco (m), Futura (f), Luce (f) ... But Foca (Phocas) is masculine while foca (animal) is grammatically feminine.
So this name is confusing and pretty unuseable.

Focus?
I love the meaning; the sound however is uncomfortably close to the dreaded f* word, so I wouldn't expect to meet a Phocas human.
It is beautiful.
