[Opinions] Damian
What are your honest views regarding the name, Damian? (Or Damien if you prefer. I'm certainly more partial to the 'a' spelling, among all other -ian ending names) Tell me why you like or dislike this name.
Also, any preferable nicknames?

I like it. I like Damian and Damien and I don't really have a preference there, but my brain automatically picks Damian.
I agree with the comments saying it's handsome, gentle, and strong. I think it strikes a good balance between having a lot of character and being usable in that it could fit any random person. (There are a ton of different archetypes of people who could fit the name Damian well, but that's not because it's blank.)

I don't like it at all. Like Adrian, it feels smug and rather weak.

I cannot put into words how much I adore the name Damian. It’s just so incredibly handsome and not too common, I love the letters and the way it sounds. It’s gentle but strong. Amazing name.I have a thing for -ian names. I also really like Adrian, Dorian, Lucian and Julian. There’s just something about them that’s very appealing.

I know of one Damien and know another. Both very nice people; neither has a nn. And both are partners of gay friends of mine, which is a strange coincidence. Not a name I'd use - with a son named Peter it would be misleading, and I'd be much more likely to use Adrian. But it's definitely OK.

I love Damian. Love love love. It's a gentlemanly name. It's well-dressed, but has a firm backbone. The sweetest kid I ever babysat was named Damian, so I have good associations with it, too.

Having a long time friend of this name pretty much puts me on the 'like' side of the table. We've never called him by anything bet his full name, never saw the need for a nn, it's fine as is.

It's pretty cool. I prefer the "a" spelling too. I think the "e" spelling looks cutesy, for an English speaker.
No nicknames for Damian. The only Damian I have known was a guy I worked with ... a fairly good-looking and muscular "straight edge" sort, with a buzz cut and tattoos. He was softspoken and came off as slightly threatening, but when I got to know him, he was also very kind and funny. I thought he had a very suitable-seeming name. And calling someone Damian in real life, just blew away all the biases I had against it because of the Omen character. After whom, IIRC, the Damian I knew was actually named.
