[Opinions] Thoughts on Cyril
WDYT about the name Cyril. I think some people pronounce SIE-reel instead of SEE-ril because similar to the name Cyrus but in my opinion I dislike using for girls because it's not pretty at all but I prefer Cheryl for girl. Give some opinions. Thanks.

I like it way better than Cyrus, but I prefer Kirill. I also think it works for both genders. A cute name. 7.5/10

I like it. It's really handsome.

I love Cyril (on a boy)! It was used for the name of Reynolds Woodcock’s sister in Phantom Thread, which I find odd.

This is not a girls' name and I have never heard it used for girls, and I have never heard it pronounced any way other than SEER-il.
Don't like it. It's very dated and stereotypically British-upper-class, and it sounds too much like cereal.

like it a lot, big fan of lesser used (in english countries, that is) greek names.

It’s pronounced as SI-rəl (short ‘i’) in England. It reminds me of the word squirrel, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Not a name I've ever liked, but certainly I've never heard SIEreel or SEEril: it's strictly SIril, with the i in the first syllable sounding like the i in whistle. I can imagine Cyril the Squirrel in a picture-book, but for humans it's outlived its usefulness. I really hope no female Cyrils are to be found anywhere.

Dislike, very old fashioned and terrible for a girl, seer ril

I pronounce it SIE-rul, I’ve never heard it in real life and assumed it sounds like Cyrus. It’s a nice name, if a bit boyish.

I've never heard anyone mispronounce Cyril (seer-il) and certainly no one foolish enough to think it would suit a girl. I have seen Cyrilla before, apparently the feminine version and infinitely preferable. Cheryl is okay for a girl, though I prefer Simone.

I've never heard SIE-reel and if I did, I think I'd laugh out loud. I mean, unless the person was introducing himself, then I guess I'd suppress it. But it just seems so wrong to me.I like Kirill, and Cyrus, but not Cyril so much. Just not the sounds I like for a guy name. It's like it's melting. SEERL.
Cyril does remind me a little bit of Sibyl and Cecilia, so I could probably get used to it as a gal's name!
But I think I'd much rather Cyra than Cyril (f).
