I can see why it was once popular, but now it reads as too old, but not old enough. I've only ever known old Sharons with the exception of the Chinese transfer student at university who chose Sharon as her English name. I think her Chinese name is Xhauping (spelling may be wrong) pronounced zhaw-pin which is probably why she chose Sharon, as its likely the closest "normal" English name to that sound.
I'm not personally a fan, but if I lived 50 years before, perhaps I would have been.
