AY-la, I'd assume. First syllable rhyming with May. It feel flimsy and lacklustre.

I'm with you, Ari. Apparently in Hebrew it's a terebinth tree (which I haven't looked up yet) and in Turkish it's the Moon. And the mother has always loved the Moon so that's the meaning she's going for. Not my choice, but not my daughter.
