Persephone over Stephanie. Mostly due to my interest in Greek mythology.

Both names are very pretty, but while Stephanie is far more practical (if becoming dated), I have to vote Persephone. I love that name.

Stephanie, I think Persephone is too wordy compared to Stephanie in my opinion (and maybe harder to pronounce).

I can't trust the general public to pronounce Persephone correctly: I've heard Percyfohn. Stephanie, then, though I prefer Stephen for a boy.

I would choose Stephanie because it has a positive association with a character I liked as a child.
