[Opinions] Name Help for protagonists of sci-fi/dystopian novel.
Hello! I am in the process of writing a book, but as of now I am putting {blank} in place of names because I literally have nothing. I need both female names and male names. The story is written from the female protagonist's point of view. There are some other female-identifying main characters but they have names. Also, the absolute main characters (boy and girl) do end up falling in love

EmilyI compiled this list from looking at wikipedia's list of inventors and then looked at my old college list of current science professors; just where my mind went to look for scifi names.

What year is it set in?

Maximum 70 years from now. I'm not really looking for "futuristic" names though, just names for strong, independent girl boss leaders I guess.

You can use names that you think might become popular in 70 years. Naming patterns seem to follow an 80 to 120 year cycle. So if the story is set in 2094, names that were popular between 1974 and 2004 might be experiencing a revival around that time. Here's some name ideas from the 1974 list:Kendra
Autumn
Yesenia
Tanya
Tasha
Miranda
Casey
Jody or Jodie
Kara
Adrienne
Chandra
Tamika
Alisha
Leigh
Bethany

Oh, wow, that’s interesting. What’s the reasoning behind the 100-year rule? Is it just because that’s when names start to feel vintage?

Wow. Thank you so much!

Sci-fi books often use science-based, futurecore names, like Onyx, Zenith, Lyra, or Andromeda.

Yes, I noticed that and Lyra is one of my favorites. However, it's not really futurecore or "science based" but it's about a group of teens surviving a nuclear war.
